Support the “Cumulative Impact Zones” 2024-27

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Some parts of the Borough of Hackney had cumulative impact zones. Shoreditch was one of those areas.

The Cumulative Impact zones are a useful additional tool to further shape licensed activities in parts of the borough. Particularly those areas that already have an existing high density of licensed premises.

Hackney Council have commissioned a report to look at the old zones and their impact.

The full report can be read here :

It’s a long document to read but page 181 onwards gives a pretty graphic and accurate description of Shoreditch. It lays bare the burdens the residential community carrys for the Night time Economy.

You can listen to Councillors debating this report here on 14th Nov 2023:

Hackney Licensing Committee hearing debate 14th November 2023

We are pro-actively supporting the reinstatement of the old Cumulative impact zones through out Hackney as a useful tool to help shape the development of a healthy and safe NTE.

In Shoreditch specifically, crime is spreading into new areas. Therefore we support the expansion of the original zone to cover additional streets to the south west of the old zone, where crime rates have been increasing. Namely these additional streets should be included:

  • Appold Street
  • Clare Street
  • Clifton Street
  • Christopher street
  • Dysart Street
  • Earl Street
  • Finsbury market
  • Holywell Row
  • Leonard Street
  • Luke Street
  • Paul Street
  • Pindar Street
  • Scrutton Street
  • Snowden Street
  • Sun Street
  • Vandy Street
  • Worship Street
